How AI APIs Handle Your Data: RSFlowHub vs Direct Vendor APIs

A plain-language look at what happens to your text when you call an AI API: what is sent where, what is logged, what is cached, and how to reduce exposure of personal data.

Engineering Verdict Architecture Recommendation

Know the data path. With RSFlowHub, text goes to the selected AI provider only to produce your result, is never used by us for training, and personal data can be redacted before it reaches your own logs.

Pattern A (Recommended)

RSFlowHub

Text is forwarded to the configured AI provider to produce the result. RSFlowHub logs usage metadata for billing and may cache identical requests for up to 24 hours so repeats cost less.

Key Technical Advantages:

  • No training on your data by RSFlowHub
  • Usage logs store counts, not text
  • PII Redaction endpoint available
Pattern B (Alternative / Legacy)

Direct Vendor APIs

Text goes straight to one AI provider under that provider terms, retention and abuse-monitoring policies.

Characteristics & Trade-Offs:

  • One fewer party in the data path
  • Direct contract with the provider

What happens to a request

  1. Your text arrives at RSFlowHub over HTTPS with your API key.
  2. It is sent to the AI provider configured for that endpoint (OpenAI, Google Gemini, DeepSeek or xAI Grok) to produce the result.
  3. The result is validated and returned to you.
  4. A usage record (endpoint, character counts, credits, status) is saved for billing. The request text itself is not stored in usage logs.
  5. Identical requests may be answered from a cache for up to 24 hours, which saves you credits.

Reducing exposure of personal data

Run user text through the PII Redaction endpoint before writing it to logs, tickets or analytics tools. It masks names, emails, phone numbers and card or ID numbers and tells you what was found.

What we do not claim

RSFlowHub is not certified under HIPAA, SOC 2 or ISO 27001 today. If your use case legally requires those certifications, use a provider that holds them for that workload.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does RSFlowHub train models on my data?

No. RSFlowHub does not use your requests or outputs to train AI models.

Is my text stored?

Usage logs store metadata, not your text. Results of identical requests may be cached for up to 24 hours. Knowledge bases and chatbot conversations you create are stored so those features can work, and you can delete them.
